VIDEO | Transcriptome and repertoire profiling of infiltrating γδ T cells to decode tumor escape at single cell resolution

October 8, 2026

On 07 October 2026, the EACR hosted a webinar in collaboration with QIAGEN, one of our valued EACR Industry Partners.

γδ T cells are increasingly recognized for their role in anti-tumor immunity and Vδ1 T cells have been reported as the predominant γδ subset infiltrating the microenvironment of several cancers. However, their contribution in this setting remains unclear and flow cytometry alone has provided limited insights into their functionality.

In this webinar, you will learn how transcriptome and repertoire profiling at bulk and single cell resolution can clarify γδ T-cell states and provide clues on tumor escape mechanisms. By linking transcriptional state, repertoire, and therapeutic response, this work underscores the potent antitumor role of Vδ1 T cells in endometrial cancer and highlights their potential as therapeutic targets to enhance anti–PD-1 checkpoint inhibitor strategies in the future.

Speakers

Prof. Domenico Mavilio, Professor of Translational Medicine, Medical School of the University of Milan

Prof. Mavilio graduated as M.D. and completed his residency program in Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine at the Medical School of Genova University. He then obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical and Experimental Immunology within a joint program between the University of Genova (Italy) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) (USA). He was then appointed as Research Fellow at NIH, where he spent 9 years before going back to Italy, at Humanitas Research Hospital, where he was appointed head of UCEI.

As physician, prof. Mavilio focuses his clinical activities on immunological disorders and hematologic malignancies. As a scientist, he handles research projects of translational medicine from the “bed-to bench” side aimed to study the pathogenesis and the cure of immunologic diseases.

Dr. Samuel J. Rulli, Subject Matter Expert, NGS Assay Technology, QIAGEN

Dr. Samuel Rulli received his PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Tulane University in 2002, studying the gastric proton pump. After his postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University and the National Cancer Institute, he joined QIAGEN in 2009. As the Associate Director of Global Product Management for NGS technologies, Samuel has been instrumental in developing gene expression analysis solutions for qPCR and NGS.
