VIDEO | Building a trustworthy AI cancer imaging platform with EUCanImage

November 3, 2025

As the 5-year EUCanImage project draws to a close, we organised a webinar on 16 September 2025 on ‘Building a trustworthy AI-driven European cancer imaging platform: Lessons from the EuCanImage project’.

Participants from 29 countries worldwide joined us to to access key project achievements and insights including clinical use cases, the project’s approach to AI development, and how to access the EuCanImage platform and datasets. It featured talks from three EUCanImage contributors:

  • Maciej Bobowicz (Medical University of Gdańsk): ‘Overview of project achievements’ and ‘Use cases’
  • Lidia Garrucho Moras (University of Barcelona): ‘AI development’
  • Stefan Klein (Biomedical Imaging Group Rotterdam (BIGR) and Erasmus MC): ‘Data platform and metadata catalogue’

Early participant feedback was excellent, with 100% of survey respondents saying they’d recommend the webinar to others. One participant told us “All the sessions were extremely informative which has truly helped me for a similar project I am working on. The presentations and the flowcharts were very helpful and self explanatory.”

Participants commented positively on the project overview and the use cases presented, and one noted, “What I found most striking was the amount of work done and the collaborations” while another said “I would like to join a similar consortium someday.”

About the EuCanImage project

The Horizon 2020 EuCanImage project is building a highly secure, federated and large-scale cancer imaging platform with capabilities that greatly enhance Artificial intelligence (AI) in oncology. Major challenges arise from constructing the clinical use cases across multiple cohorts to implementing the infrastructure to facilitate data collection and analysis.
