The EU-funded project EuCanImage, in which the EACR is a partner, was proud to represent its project at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2025 in Vienna, Austria, (26 February to 02 March 2025). The project partners shared updates and insights by organising a dedicated end-user workshop, an in-silico trial, and several focused talks.
EuCanImage is a 4-year research project building a European cancer imaging platform that will enhance the potential of artificial intelligence in oncology.
End-User Workshop and In-Silico Trial
At ECR 2025, the EuCanImage Consortium held a specialist workshop showcasing its methodology, key achievements, and real-world applications.
Session 1 gave an overview of the integrated data types in the EuCanImage framework, including the Data Portal and metadata catalogue. It also covered clinical variables and data access, with a live demonstration of the repository.
Session 2 focused on practical use, featuring specific research tools and an in-silico trial simulation. Participants explored pre-selected case scenarios hands-on, seeing first-hand how the trial supports clinical research.
Dr. Maciej Bobowicz led the workshop, with contributions from experts covering imaging, non-imaging data, and the EuCanImage platform. Use cases in liver, colorectal, and breast cancer were presented, and Collective Minds Radiology demonstrated the in-silico trial tools.
Talks and exhibition
Prof. Karim Lekadir, the project coordinator, delivered an insightful talk showcasing EuCanImage’s achievements. ECR participants were also able to learn more about the project at the EIBIR booth in the exhibition.
About the EuCanImage project
The Horizon 2020 EuCanImage project is building a highly secure, federated and large-scale cancer imaging platform with capabilities that greatly enhance Artificial intelligence (AI) in oncology. Major challenges arise from constructing the clinical use cases across multiple cohorts to implementing the infrastructure to facilitate data collection and analysis.
