“EACR webinars are excellent for keeping researchers up to date in a field that is so competitive and constantly evolving. Furthermore, the Q&A session of this webinar was very dynamic, which allowed for a much more productive and interesting discussion.” – feedback from a participant

On 06 February 2025, the EACR hosted a webinar in collaboration with Illumina, one of our valued EACR Industry Partners. We were delighted to welcome Anna Babayan, Senior Marketing Manager in Cancer Research at Illumina, and Anne-Sophie Pailhes-Jimenez who is the R&D Senior Director at ANGLE Europe Limited. In Anne-Sophie’s main presentation, she discussed how dual analysis of liquid biopsy analytes may hold potential to capture a more comprehensive picture of tumour heterogeneity and ultimately inform personalised cancer care.

Thanks to the speakers and Illumina, we are able to provide free on-demand access to the full webinar recording, which can be found above.

Talk abstract

Liquid biopsy analytes including circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) represent important minimally invasive biomarker sources for molecular profiling as a step towards realizing precision oncology.

In this webinar, Anne-Sophie Pailhes-Jimenez will present dual analysis data from samples taken from lung cancer patients using Parsortix system by ANGLE. Targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) on the NextSeq 2000 sequencer was performed and revealed mutations identified exclusively on CTCs compared to cfDNA. Overall, dual analysis of liquid biopsy analytes may hold potential to capture a more comprehensive picture of tumour heterogeneity and ultimately inform personalised cancer care.

Speakers

Anne-Sophie Pailhes-Jimenez, PhD, R&D Senior Director, ANGLE Europe Limited

Anne-Sophie Pailhes-Jimenez is the R&D Senior Director at ANGLE Europe Limited. She joined ANGLE in 2016 and is responsible for all R&D laboratory activities and projects. She has over 15 years of experience in cell biology and cancer research in the biotech and biopharma space.

Expert in cellular biology and immunofluorescence technology, Anne-Sophie has been managing multiple projects to develop downstream assays including immunofluorescence staining and molecular analysis, and leading R&D activities on further characterisation of CTCs. Previously, she worked as senior scientist for 6 years at the Gustave Roussy Institute in Paris, France, where she gained a wealth of experience in cellular biology in the oncology area. Before joining ANGLE, Anne-Sophie managed the biology team at a biopharmaceutical company that focused on the development of innovative immunotherapy solutions for cancer treatment. Anne-Sophie has an MSc in biotechnological engineering specialising in molecular biology from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse (INSA Toulouse).

Anna Babayan, PhD, Senior Marketing Manager, Cancer Research, Illumina

In her role as a senior cancer research marketing manager at Illumina, Anna’s aim is to enable researchers to use established and emerging NGS applications to bring cancer research to the next level. Before joining Illumina, Anna worked as R&D scientist at QIAGEN. She has a PhD from University of Hamburg, Germany and worked as a PostDoc at the Institute of Tumor Biology at University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. She focused on translational cancer research and liquid biopsy. Anna was involved in the IMI consortium Cancer-ID and has authored >10 peer-reviewed journal articles and a chapter in World Cancer Report 2020.
